Podcast Festival: Opening Act

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Get air play at Canada’s premiere podcast event! We’re on the lookout for great homegrown podcasts to showcase before each of our live shows at the 2019 Hot Docs Podcast Festival.

An expanded platform for our country’s rich audio talent, Opening Act is your opportunity to get your show heard by a captive audience of podcast lovers and get exposure to attending audio executives and industry leaders.

If you’re a Canadian creator, and actively producing an original podcast, submit the best 90-second audio clip of your show for consideration to be played live at Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema. Winners will also receive a complimentary pass to the Hot Docs Podcast Festival’s Creators Forum and will be listed online and across our various social channels.

GUIDELINES

• The clip submitted must be no more than 90 seconds and must be appropriate and engaging for a live audience.
• The submitted material must be an excerpt or modified clip from an existing podcast episode.
• Accepted file formats: 44.1 kHz/16-bit stereo audio file in either .aiff, .aac, .wav, or .mp3

• The podcast must be actively in production or releasing new episodes.
• Principle podcast creator must be Canadian.
• Preference will be given to independently produced content.
• Submissions from all genres will be considered, but priority will be given to shows that favour compelling non-fiction audio storytelling.
• The applicant must own the rights to the project or must demonstrate authorized permission to air the clip.
