Hot Docs Podcast Career Accelerator

The inaugural Hot Docs Podcast Career Accelerator will welcome a cohort of 70 emerging Canadian audio creators between the ages of 18 and 34 at the 2019 Hot Docs Podcast Festival and Creators Forum from November 6 – 11.

Supporting a diversity of perspectives and new voices from historically underrepresented communities, this new career development program will equip a dynamic group of emerging creators with the tools they need to take their audio skills to the next level, helping strengthen and sustain the burgeoning Canadian audio industry.

Selected participants will join over 300 Canadian and international audio creators, executives, and taste makers for six days of sessions and live shows that are sure to enlighten, inspire and help kick-start their career in podcasting.

Program Information

Eligible applicants must be either:

• Enrolled and actively working toward a degree or certificate in an audio or media arts program

OR

• Have 3 years or less experience independently creating audio content AND will not currently be employed by or have a show in production with a major broadcaster or digital platform.

Successful applicants will receive:

• A free All-Access Pass to the 2019 Hot Docs Podcast Festival (November 6-11) and Creators Forum (November 6-8) where they will have the chance to learn about the art, craft, and business of audio storytelling while taking part in formal and informal networking opportunities with leading executives and other emerging and established audio creators.

• An invitation to participate in a private pre-festival career accelerator and networking event where they will get invaluable insight which will help them successfully navigate the upcoming festival, meet their peers, and get firsthand off-the-record insight from notable audio professionals.
